This ancient town in Guangxi was named "Huang Yao" during the Song Dynasty because the town was dominated by the surnames of Huang and Yao. In the past, Huang Yao Ancient Town was not a well-known tourist attraction, soon after two television dramas "Strong Tea in Hometown" and "Good Wine in Hometown" as well as cinema movie "Veil" chosen the ancient town for filming, its popularity had greatly increased. Fortunately, it was not over developed; ancient features are well protected and reserved. Like many other scenic old towns small bridges and streams are everywhere in Huang Yao, ancient houses with poetry and paintings finely carved on the eaves. Street of hundreds years old laid with stone slabs are still in place with the green roof tile bricked houses on both sides. Compared with other ancient towns elsewhere, Huang Yao has less hustle and glitz, instead full of serenities. It is indeed really appealing and worth to visit this scenic ancient town.
Li Hua's oil painting depicts the ancient old houses and narrow lane laid with slabs of stones, which are still intact after numerous centuries.
